BSWD

Hi Everyone,

We have a student who has reached out to request an appeal of a denial of thier BSWD application. The student in question has significant mobility impairments and is requesting PSW support. The Ministry has already reviewed the application and indicated "The student is requesting assistance for a level of care that is related to daily living necessities, not educational related. In other words, this level of care is required outside of postsecondary studies.”

Our ASO has indicated:

-We have written confirmation from the local agency that typically provides PSW care  - they will not provide a PSW this case;

-We have documentation showing the student requires PSW care to go to the washroom.

-The program the student is taking requires him to be physically present on campus.

-Without PSW care, the student is unable to attend to participate in the in-person learning.

Does anyone have any insight on how to best approcah an appeal and adovcate for this student?
