Code 7 - CSL/OSP Inelig - complete 340+ weeks
question about something I SHOULD know. Does the above restriction for full-time OSAP also impact a student's ability to apply for part-time OSAP funding?

Good morning all,
It was great connecting with the Financial Aid community over the past two days through the conference. In one of the sessions I attended there were discussions about how we provide emergency support to students and some institutions mentioned that they issue digital gift cards. I would like to get more information about how that process works as I am interested in implementing that at York. If anyone is willing to meet with me to discuss in more detail, I would greatly appreciate that.
Karen
Hi Karen - I'd be happy to chat about it! Send me a note at anikpowell@ocadu.ca and we can book a meeting? Or just send me your questions if you prefer.
The short version is that after we approve a student for a grocery card, we do an online order through giftofchoice.ca for a grocery card to the studnet's email account. I pay with my purchasing card, save the electronic receipt, and allocate the charge to our student experience fund when I reconcile my purchases.
One can also order physical cards through the website. I'm sure there are other vendors, but this works for us.
But happy to chat!

Hi friends -
Does anyone have any memos or policy documents archived that explain the old Ontario Graduate Fellowship program? I have seen a fragment of a memo from 2009 but haven't been able to locate it in the FAO portal. Just wanted to check the wisdom of the membership before I go to the Ministry ... thanks!
Anik
Hi Anik,
I only have memos 2005, 2006 and 2009. We have not reported in the FAO portal. We used to do annual accountability reports to the Ministry on use of funds, interest, etc. However, that sits with our Research and Trust Accounting department now and I haven't been asked to support the reporting. I can send you a copy of the 2009 memo as it has the most detail. If you would like to see it, please reach out at andra.drinkwalter@ontariotechu.ca.

Hi there,
Has anyone made a workaround for programs that have higher costs so that they don't have to be individually manually approved? It seems silly to do all the work in my spreadsheet, upload, and then to have to manually click "approve" in ONeKey afterwards.
Thanks,
Amanda
I have not found one. It seems to need reassurance that you didn't just make a mistake. I can't even get mine to upload today. It tells me it is not .xls format, but it's identical to what was downloaded! I even tried to download a second time and copy/paste the new internal parts onto the original structure.
I think the policy changed in 2024-25. The 2025-26 PT OSAP manual has info on page 31: "Note: As of 2024-25, students will no longer be able to receive further part-time (federal) financial assistance (loans, grants, or in-study payment-free and interest-free status) once they complete a period of studies in which they reach/exceed their maximum of 340 weeks of financial assistance over the entire course of their post
secondary education. This maximum includes all weeks of full-time study for which a loan, grant, or interest-free or payment-free status was granted.
Part-time study does not contribute to the maximum number of weeks. However, the maximum part-time loan limit is $10,000, excluding interest. Nevertheless, students who reach the $10,000 part-time loan limit remain eligible to receive Canada Student Grants."
