CAS in another province

Hi colleagues,

I have a student who was adopted in another province, so isn't sure how to proceed. They entered "no" on the response in the profile, but requested a change, then asked us to revoke the change request.

In the manual, it states "You must provide a completed Verification of Status with Ontario Children’s Aid Society form, available on the OSAP website (ontario.ca/osap). Or, if you have child welfare or child protection status with another province in Canada or outside Canada, you must provide a letter from the appropriate children’s aid society or other agency confirming your status."

My question is regarding how to answer the subsequent questions in the profile, since they all say "in Ontario". Does anyone know if we just keep saying "no", since it was not Ontario (which I think will be interpreted as not CAS) or if we say "yes" and ignore the Ontario reference, in order to generate the supdoc?

Thanks!

Hi Lisa: I found this on page 55 of the 24.25 policy manual. I'm not sure if this matches the student's situation, having not seen the letter from the other Province, but it does indicate that if we have the rqd documentation that the response would be Yes even though its not Ontario.
