Note on CSG-D with G2L and WDR to PT <30 Days
I'm about ready to start a Jeremy's Rants thread, I imagine it would get a lot of readership, but sadly all my posts would go there though, haha 😋
So I found out last week that what is in the manual in relation to policy vs what the system actually does is INCORRECT. I went back and forth with MCU for 2 manuals to get them to format the manual properly so that the policy could be followed better (removal of the word 'and' as well as indenting the 3rd bullet to the left. It was misleading and appeard there was a 2nd qualifier to the WDR to PT for CSG-D with the word ‘and’, as well as the bullet below needing to be moved to the left to indicate it’s the 2nd reason (and not part of the WDR to PT criteria). See pg 273 in 21-22 vs pg 291 in 22-23 for this slightly nuanced change, yet makes all the difference in how the policy is interpreted. Format matters.
So the policy is now written correctly, but the system DOESN'T DO what it says. If a student WDR to PT within 30 days, but still has $1 in CSL need, the full amount of the CSG-D issued WILL be G2L.
If you have examples that you can check on to see if G2L occured for these situations, please send to me via email (account number only). The 1 example I knew of, I checked on, and surely enough G2L happened for the $2K first payment. And of course I unequivocally told the student's parent that it would NOT convert 😥
Either the policy needs fixing or the system needs fixing. My guess is system, as it's a Fed policy.
