I am trying to find out if a student should put their dad's Long-term disability under the non-taxable income? If not where does it get recorded? TIA. :)
So Krista didn't know either, but I just found this:
Box 107 – Payments from a Wage-Loss Replacement Plan
If you receive benefits from a Wage Loss Replacement Plan, such as Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD) or Weekly Indemnity (WI), you will receive a T4a and report these amounts on Line 10400 of your tax return.
So by reporting on line 10400 it gets rolled into line 15000, but whether it's taxable or not, is determined by who paid the premiums. This part (taxation), we don't care about, as that relates to taxable income (line 26000), but not non-taxable income.
There has to be a better term to be used on the app, as it creates SO MUCH CONFUSION.
How many times has ODSP and/or WSIB or other been reported under non-tax income. Very frustrating, I actually had multiple parents argue with me about it.
