In-study Consumer Proposal

ok.. another question for you. We have a student who received their fall OSAP funding but when we went to release their winter funding the Ministry put a restriction on their account due to 'conflicting information'. Found that the student had processed a CP on Oct 18-24.

The student qualifies for 'continuous program of study' and we have worked with the student and uploaded all the required documentation but are stuck on how to interpret the one requirement:

In addition, if prior student loans that have not been discharged, on of the following:

  • a letter from your financial institution, the National Student Loan Service Centre and/or your collection agency confirming that there is no outstanding balance on any student loans

Does the above just mean their previous loans need to be in good standing (no interest payments missed etc) OR do all previous loans need to be paid off?

If paid off, that doesn't make sense because of the 'continuous program of study' that we are submitting.

Does anyone have any insight on this? Also, looks like MCU is still at early Nov processing these CLR64-65 so... good chance it won't be reviewed before the end of April when the term is over? Student really needs their Winter funds.

Thanks

Pam, WLU
