Seeking OASFAA Volunteer for Accessibility Standards Working Group

I was contacted by the Council of Ontario Universities to see if a member of OASFAA would like to join their PE Accessibility Standards Working Group.

Please let me know if you are interested. I would love to have OASFAA representation in this group.

___________

The Reference Group on Accessibility (RGoA) is seeking OASFAA representation on the Student Services & Administration PSE Accessibility Standards Implementation (PSE ASI) Working Group.

As you may be aware, the RGoA leads the accessibility file on behalf of the sector with the support of COU and will oversee the composition and mandate of new cross-functional PSE ASI Working Groups, which are being struck to assess the new PSE Accessibility Standards. As the Standards were developed to ensure publicly funded postsecondary education is more accessible to people with disabilities, there will be implications for every area of the institution, including assessment, training, operations, curriculum, and instruction.

These working groups will help inform the development of sector-wide resources to support universities in implementing the Standards, once they are confirmed by government

We are seeking one representative from OASFAA for the following Working Group (bolded):

  1. Student Services & Administration

  2. Awareness & Training

  3. Accessibility Data

  4. Accessible Technology

  5. Assessment, Curriculum, & Instruction

  6. Physical Barriers

Advisory Committees are asked to confer and confirm their desired representation on these groups through your usual nominations processes, as applicable.

Please see attached PSE Accessibility Standards Implementation Working Groups Overview deck for more information on each Working Group. If you feel OASFAA’s expertise would be of value on other Working Groups not listed above, please let us know.

Time Commitment: Working Group members shall meet on a rolling basis in 2024-25 and Working Group Chairs are asked to attend quarterly touch-base meetings with the RGoA, the first of which is scheduled to occur this September.
