Adjust Living Allowance Review
Hi All, I am seeking support with a living allowance review.
We have a dependent student who is living away from home for only the fall term to December 31, 2026. The SPE is April 2027. The parent resides within 30km.
The manual indicates to use KAH and a value of $0 if the student is living away from home for the whole study period, which isn't the case here.
The manual also says that if the student is living away from home for only a portion of the study period: Use the “effective at home/away from home” function within the application. A KAH/KAP review code is not required in these situations.
If I update the effective date of living at home, there is still no change to the assessment because the student's parent is within 30km.
There is no guidance on how to calculate a partial living away from home period for a KAH.
Any guidance would be appreciated!
Hello - the 23-24 FT OSAP Manual references this. I am not sure why it did not carry forward in futrue manuals:
"If the student is living away from home for only a portion of the study period: When inputting the KAH/KAP review code, enter the amount of the allowable living allowance: [the at home living allowance calculated for the weeks the student is living at home] + [away from home allowance calculated for the weeks the student is living away from home].
