UPDATE FROM CASFAA RE: STUDENTAID BC LABOUR DISRUPTION

From: Emily Lam

Subject: Re: StudentAid BC - Service Delivery Disruption

UPDATE - September 24, 2025

Due to a labour dispute, the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills continues to experience a disruption in service delivery, which is impacting our ability to respond to our clients.

Please note:

• Access to StudentAid BC online application systems is not available to students at this time.

• StudentAid BC payments will be delayed until normal service resumes

It is unknown when student access to online application systems will resume.

StudentAid BC will keep institution access to our systems available as long as possible in the context of technical limitations and labour dispute impact on key resources.

Financial Aid Officers at post-secondary institutions will retain the ability to perform limited functions and must continue to follow the policy rules outlined in the StudentAid BC policy manual and administration guide. Functions that continue to be available are:

SFAS

• Confirming enrolment, including tuition remittance

• Reporting withdrawals, unsuccessful completions, and early completions

• Completing program and institution information forms (Appendix 3)

• Updating the Institutional Appendix

SIMS

• Confirming enrolment, including tuition remittance

• Completing Program Information Records (PIR)

• Reporting withdrawals, unsuccessful completions, and early completions

• Managing account administration, such as creating programs and offerings or updating institution users

SAIL

• Reporting withdrawals, unsuccessful completions, and early completions

The StudentAid BC Tier 1 call center continues to be available to answer general questions. The Tier 2 student support line and BC public institution support line remain unavailable.

Currently, StudentAid BC processing timelines are approximately 8 weeks and could increase depending on the length of the dispute.

We are closely monitoring ongoing negotiations and remain committed to keeping you informed.

The Ministry values the contributions of public service employees and fully respects the collective bargaining process, including the legal right to strike.

Thank you for your patience while we work to resume service delivery standards.
